Events
Grow On Katikati runs monthly events to help our members gain the knowledge and tools to achieve success, to meet like-minded others in our commUNITY, and to have some great fun along the way!
We run workshops every second month, and interspace those with other events like movie inspiration nights, social events, and fundraisers.
We like to keep it local and work with the expertise of those in our commUNITY wherever possible! Our tutors are a smart bunch who impart information with passion and a simplicity that all can understand.

Seeds of Change: An Evening of Inspiring Short Films
Tuesday, 16 June
6 PM - 8 PM
Patuki Manawa (Digital Hub)
Sometimes the inspiration to live differently begins with a simple idea — people coming together to grow food, strengthen community, and care for the land.
Join us for an inspiring evening of three short documentaries exploring how ordinary people transformed unused spaces into thriving food-growing communities.
Two documentaries follow volunteer-led projects turning neglected land into communal vegetable gardens and open-access urban food forests to help tackle food insecurity and reconnect communities through food.
The third documentary showcases an inspiring iwi-led initiative transforming a former crop farm into a flourishing food forest.
PLUS — be in to win a Food Dehydrator generously donated by Ezidri worth $234!
$5 Koha Entry
BYO drinks, popcorn provided

Mid-Winter
Soup Social
& AGM
Friday, 3 July
You're warmly invited to our annual Mid-Winter Soup Social – a wonderful evening of food and community spirit.
As the winter nights draw in, join us for a relaxed and social gathering where we celebrate another year of growing, sharing, and connecting together.
Bring a vegetable from your garden (or a contribution from your kitchen) to add to our big community pot of soup. Together we'll create a delicious meal that reflects the abundance and generosity of our community.
The evening will include:
Nibbles and drinks on arrival
A short presentation highlighting Grow On Katikati's achievements and milestones over the past year
A hearty homemade soup made from our collective contributions
There will be plenty of time to connect, share stories, and enjoy a warm winter evening together.
Whether you're a member, volunteer, supporter, or simply curious about what we do, everyone is welcome.
We look forward to sharing a bowl of soup with you!

At Grow On Katikati, we are always looking for ways to make the vision of an edible and sustainable backyard possible for everyone. Our monthly events are intended to inform, inspire, and educate, with the added bonus of bringing commUNITY together. What's not to love?
